In life, we are constantly surrounded by other people. Lots and LOTS of other people. The people we work with, the people we go to school with, the people we party with, our friends, our family… they’re everywhere. But there’s no way to focus on ALL of them. Nor should we try to. When putting your story together, the one thing that you should remember is that the more characters you have, the more complex your story is going to be. If you don’t want to complicate things for yourself, find a way to narrow them down to a number that you can manage. Use only the characters that will ultimately help your main character grow and change and take the journey that you want him/her to take. In a lot of my stories, people have told me that the parents are lacking and are almost never involved in their children’s lives. That they seem oblivious or neglectful. But for those particular stories, it’s not that they’re absent, they’re justContinue reading »

Disclaimers. That little ‘warning’ at the beginning of your story that supposedly keeps people from bringing the wrath of God down on your head if some curious teenager comes across your story and, God forbid, gets off on it. Hehehe… a teenage boy wanting sex. That’s just CRAZY, right? The thing about disclaimers… I really have never used them. Not once. Mostly because I only post my stories on my own website, on Nifty, or on a site where it is understood that it is filled with erotic material. Obviously, I don’t want anybody making money off of my stories or plagiarizing my work, but as far as going out of my way to tell people, “Hey! Don’t steal my stuff!”… I don’t do it. I wrote it for free. It’s available online for free. People can come see it any time they want to. If I was making an actual living off of my writing, then a copyright notice might be necessary. But for the time being, that’s notContinue reading »

#1- Lady Gaga’s real full name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. #2- Mosquitoes are attracted to the color blue twice as much as to any other color. #3- In the original “Halloween”, Michael Meyers wasn’t referred to as Michael Myers. In the original release, the character was simply listed as ‘The Shape’. #4- The technical term for the Antichrist is actually ‘The Anti-Messiah’. In ancient Hebrew texts, the prophecy of the Anti-Messiah actually predates the coming of Jesus Christ by five hundred years or more. In fact, at that time, it was speculated that Jesus himself was the false prophet these ancient predictions talked about. #5- The praying mantis is the only insect that can turn its head! #6- The common goldfish is the only animal that can see both infra-red and ultra-violet light. #7- “101 Dalmatians” and “Peter Pan” are the only two original animated Disney movies ever made where the main character wasn’t an orphan or a stepchild, has both parents present, and one of the parents isn’tContinue reading »

It is traditionally done to make the watch face look as if it is ‘smiling’. 8- Eleanor Roosevelt, during FDR’s term in the Presidential office, had a husky, cigar smoking, lesbian lover staying in the room next to her in the White House! :O 9- A rodent’s teeth never stop growing. One thing that I remember truly enjoying when I was growing up was going to the comic book store after school with two or three of my best friends, and grabbing as much of the newest stuff on the shelves as my little 80’s Velcro wallet would allow! Hehehe! The people behind the counter knew us by name, and we would flip through everything from ‘X-Men’ to ‘Spiderman’ to ‘Batman’ to ‘The Punisher’ to ‘Superman’ and everything in between. I still have almost all of those comic books to this day, and they may not be in the best of shape (I read the HELL out of those books! Hehehe! Repeatedly!), I wouldn’t give them up for anything. Those stories stay with me. And they are what really taught me how to tell a story. Now, there are a lot of people who don’t get that, and it’s often because they think of comic books as being a bunch of costumed weirdoes going ‘Wham’ and ‘Pow’ and fighting some dementedContinue reading »

1)  Aside from Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance, the only other performer to appear in FOUR “Halloween” movies (“Halloween 4 and 5”, and both of the Rob Zombie “Halloween” remakes)… was actress, Danielle Harris. 2)  John Laroquette was the narrator of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 3)  Alfred Hitchcock’s movie, “Psycho”, was the first time an actual ‘toilet’ was ever shown on a public screen. The producer thought it would be even more unsettling for the audience if she tore something up, tossed it in… and flushed it. 4)  Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan, died on Halloween night. 5)  Having faulty wiring within the walls of your house is not only a fire hazard… but also it can make many people feel that their house is haunted. Studies have been done that show that the incorrect wiring can send out an electromagnetic pulse in certain areas of the house. It can create feelings of anxiety, paranoia, changes in the way the body feels room temperature, andContinue reading »

Out of all of the stories that have been popular on the Shack Out Back website… “Gone From Daylight” still remains at the very top of the list. And not by a small margin, either. It beats out every other story, almost 2 to 1. And since its first chapter in 1999… it has grown into something much larger than what it was intended to be! I, personally… couldn’t be more honored. The “GFD: Blood Bank” website was born more out of necessity than just popularity. I really cherished some of the other stories that I had seen, the artwork and pictures that people sent me in emails, the videos, the poetry, the ‘soundtrack’ suggestions… but I didn’t have a way to hold it all on the system that I was using at the time. So, unfortunately, some of those “GFD” treasures were lost over time, and the authors have vanished, so I have no way to get those contributions back. But the ideas from other fans of the seriesContinue reading »

If the Earth was actually smooth, the oceans would cover the entire surface of the planet to a depth of 12,000 feet. Karate was not invented in China. It actually originated in India. ‘Ariel’, from “New Kid In School” and “Kiss Of An Angel”, is a very real boy indeed! I had such an infatuation with him! Hehehe! But… his FIRST appearance in my stories didn’t occur in “Angel”, OR “New Kid”. Even though I changed his name… this super shy art student first appeared in one of the first stories I ever wrote for the site! “Boy Next Door”! Yep… that’s him. Sighhhh… so cute! If someone is flipping a coin, call tails. The odds are slightly better. The design of the ‘face’ on the heads side is heavier, so it’s more likely to land face down. (Call heads if they catch it in their hand and flip it over, of course.) There are two different types of cannibals. Exo-cannibals eat their enemies to gain their strength. Indo-cannibals eatContinue reading »

Shelter By Comicality   -24-06-2012 The springs of the worn out mattress beneath me were mercilessly digging into the softest parts of my chest and stomach that morning. I don’t think that I slept a wink last night. Sure my eyes were closed, my breath was steady, my body was still… but I couldn’t really call it sleep. More like a slightly deeper than normal meditation. And what was I meditating on? I was meditating on how I could possibly get myself a better mattress. I could hear a baby crying in the background, and sat up to rub the sleep out of my eyes. The entire high school gymnasium was full, wall-to-wall, with emergency beds just like mine. Hell… some of them were even worse. I don’t know how many people were in this little safe house before I got there, but me and a truckload of other survivors were just brought in at about two o’clock this morning. You would think that traveling at night would keep usContinue reading »

Characters… There can’t really be story without them. Characters are what drive the reader to invest any time, any emotion, any energy into a story at all. You could write the most fascinating story of all time, filled with action and intrigue and plot twists and romance. But if the characters fail… the story (to some extent) will fail also. There’s no way around it. No way to avoid it. It is the characters that will make or break your online story. So it’s something that you should focus on before making a go at the genre. Let’s be honest… as far as gay fiction goes, nine times out of ten, the boy ends up with the boy he’s longing for. That’s the formula. No one reads a gay erotic store and thinks, “I wonder if they’ll end up together?” Yes… they will. The surprise really isn’t a surprise, is it? There are some stories where the main character doesn’t end up with the love interest… but those stories canContinue reading »

#1- Your fingernails grow faster on your dominant hand. So whether you’re right handed or left handed… expect to cut them more often. #2- At age 14, Jeremy Sumpter became the first ‘boy’ to ever play the live role of ‘Peter Pan’ in a movie. I used many of the techniques and lessons I learned to write that story. And I still have a dream journal from when I was about 16 or 17 years old. Hehehe… don’t ever keep track of how horny you were as a teenager! Wow! LOL! #6- Time Magazine’s ‘Man of the Year’ for 1938… was Adolf Hitler. #7- It is rumoredContinue reading »
