With Mother’s Day coming up, here’s what I plan to treat myself to as I remember Mom.

My Mom’s BBQ Sloppy Joes.
Here’s the recipe:
You can use any ground meat, including beef, chicken, pork, turkey, squirrel, hedgehog, horse, dog, cat, or miscellaneous road kill.
Brown and drain the meat, then add:
(For every 1/2 pound of meat (1/4 kilo will do))
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar (or sugar substitute)
- 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 Cup (125 ml) of Chili Sauce (This is a tomato-based sauce without meat. Common US brands are Heinz and Del Monte. If you can’t find any or if you don’t have any, Ketchup works fine.)
Stir and simmer for 20 minutes.
(Be sure to cover the pan. This will definitely spatter all over your stove.)
Serve on Hamburger Buns with Potato Chips/Crisps on the side.
