A 20 year old young hopeful, a native of the Los Angeles area of California…Cameron Boyce passed away just recently (July 6th, 2019), leaving a wake of sadness and despair behind as this talented Disney Channel star truly had a lot to offer the rest of us. Reports have said that he was suffering from a medical issue that occasionally caused him to have seizures…the last of which, ended his life prematurely in his sleep.
A family spokesperson sent out a note to say, “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron.” Adding, “The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.” A very sad end to a promising career, but balanced by the love and affection that Cameron had standing behind him throughout the years of his success.
He was so young when he started. About 9 years old, tops! I remember being a fan, and thinking that he was one of those child actors that had a specific ‘glow’ about them whenever they were on screen. Cameron had a charm and grace that went way beyond that adorably freckled pretty face. He always made you smile whenever you watched him work.
I think the first time I saw him was in the Keifer Sutherland movie, “Mirrors”, which was SUPER creepy by the way! But as he grew older, he allowed more of his talents to shine. Acting at first, then singing…and then his ability to dance his ASS off! I remember watching a Ma$e video with him in it for the first time, and thinking, “Wait…is that the kid from ‘Mirrors’ dancing like that???”
Yes, it was! And he was phenomenal!
In a rare video of Cameron when he was just starting out, you can already see the beauty of his personality and star quality shining through so brightly that it nearly blinds you with its radiance.
It was no surprise at all that the Disney Channel picked Cameron up to be the star of shows like “Jesse” and their cinematic offerings, “The Decendents”, where Cameron played the son of “101 Dalmations” villainess, Cruella Deville! He was a natural, bringing humor and energy and a genuine sense of joy to his roles in everything that he did. He was a very special guy indeed.
And not only was his wildly entertaining on screen, but Cameron did a lot of charity work, made good friends in the industry, and left a legacy of kindness and widespread support for everything he did, and everything he was as a person. I think that’s something that should be recognized, and celebrated, whenever possible.
So my deepest condolences go out to Cameron Boyce’s friends and family, and to all of the fans that loved him from the very beginning. Thank you, Cameron…for being an angel on Earth, and for sharing some of your light with us in the short amount of time that you were allowed to spend with the rest of us. Love always.
I end this with one of Cameron’s co-stars, and best friends, as she grieves the loss of someone close to her heart. Wherever you are…be well. And stay beautiful.
