When it comes to Hollywood’s history of child actors…the impact of achieving massive stardom at such a young age can be a mixed bag of results. Some of them become familiar faces that are forever haunted by their younger roles on film and on television. Some become big for a few brief flashes before disappearing into obscurity. Some have long and illustrious careers beyond their child or teen years, some simply outgrow the biz and move on to other things, and others (unfortunately) get chewed up and spit out by the merciless entertainment machine…leading to a future of crime and drugs.

However…

With every generation of new child and teen actors…we’re all blessed with a true MIRACLE! Someone who is radiant, and truly talented in a way that even the experienced adults around them find it hard to compete with. We’ve seen it before, many times in the past. From River Phoenix, to Elijah Wood, to Brad Renfro, to Haley Joel Osment, to Asa Butterfield…there is always a huge charismatic talent just around the corner! And in this day and age, those boys are coming along more frequently than ever. With actors like Gabriel Bateman, Maxwell Jenkins, Arman Darbo, Judah Lewis, and the entire cast of “Stranger Things”…it’s become apparent that child actors are getting the kind of praise and worldwide acclaim that they deserve.

And thirteen year old Jacob Tremblay has DEFINITELY earned his place at being at the very top of the list of young Hollywood’s next crop of teen hopefuls! Because he is amazing!

Coming from Vancouver, Canada, Jacob began his acting career at a very young age with a mind-blowing debut in the movie “Room” with Academy Award winning actress, Brie Larson. That role, as well as his outstanding performance in that film, got Jacob a seat at the Oscars the following year. I’ve seen that movie, and his critical acclaim was well deserved for that movie. Seriously. Wow.

Since then, Jacob Tremblay has won many awards for his talent, including the Teen Choice Award for dramatic actor, Best Newcomer, and Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Supporting Role. And he’s still going strong, with a promising stretch of new roles ahead of him.

Already starring in big budget movies like “The Predator” and possibly in the live action version of the Disney classic, “The Little Mermaid” as ‘Flounder’, Jacob has already begun accumulating a huge fanbase who will run out to watch anything that he’s in. And why not? Like I said…he really is amazing!

The teen actor has played around with a variety of different roles, and every performance has been stunning. It’s like he just has this natural ability to draw you in and touch your heart with everything he does. From “Room”, to “Burn Your Maps”, to darker movies like “Before I Wake”…he continues to excel in bringing a sense of raw emotion to the screen.

And he struck gold again by playing in the real life story of Auggie Pullman in the movie, “Wonder”, where he had to wear prosthetic make up on his face every day that he was on set. The process took two hours every morning, and…I don’t think I could do that! Hehehe! That would bug me, something awful. Jacob says, “You can’t itch on the prosthetic, or else you will rip it, and it’s really expensive.” I’ll bet it was. Yikes!

He admits that he enjoyed the experience, but he’s only allowed to be on set for eight or nine hours a day, and says that they make you do a lot in that short amount of time. So the pressure is on. But, no matter what he’s doing on screen…he always handles it like a champ. And I have no doubt that his acting skills are going to fade any time soon, or ever.

Hehehe, and then…in 2019…came “Good Boys”!

First of all, this movie is absolutely hilarious! But if you had any ideas about Jacob Tremblay being Hollywood’s number one sweetheart? Yeah…you can throw all of that right out the window! Hahaha!

But, to be honest, this was how I was with my friends in Junior High around the ages of eleven or twelve. So you can’t say that this is an inaccurate depiction of what that tween/teen life is like. A coin toss between vulgar and raunchy one minute, and totally innocent and naive the next, “Good Boys” is one of the best roles that he’s taken on to date. And it seems to be something that he really enjoyed making for an R-Rated audience.

Naturally, due to his age, there had to be some ‘rules’ set in place as far as the movie’s content was concerned. Basically…what is said on set, stays on set. As Jacob put it, his character ‘Max’ swears. Jacob Tremblay does NOT swear! Hehehe, suuuure he doesn’t. ::Wink::

When asked if he’s seen the finished product, he replied, “Yes, I have seen all the scenes, uhh, and I do actually understand all the jokes. But, back when we were filming, I actually didn’t understand, like, pretty much, like, I would say fifty percent. So…if I ever didn’t understand anything all I’d have to do is ask someone, especially my parents. And if my parents felt like I didn’t need to know it yet, then I didn’t need to know it yet.” Sweet. But I was thirteen once too, ya know? And you understood those jokes, dude! Come clean!

If you haven’t seen “Good Boys” yet, definitely check it out! It’ll keep you laughing the whole way through! That movie is AWESOME!

“This is probably the funnest movie that I’ve ever done so far! Just because I get to do so many fun scenes, and it’s hard to keep a straight face.”

And then, all jokes aside…

When it comes time for Jacob to bring that dramatic flair to his on screen characters…he REALLY knows how to hit you in the feels. This isn’t just a pretty face that we’re dealing with here. Honestly, it’s kind of uncanny how he’s able to express such a deep and convincing range of emotion whenever you see him on screen. There’s just this hidden flair about him that gets to me every time. It’s like…when Jacob Tremblay cries…I cry! I can’t help it! It’s just like, “Awwww, omigod! Somebody help him!” I was also impressed with his role in one of the newest episodes of the “Twilight Zone” reboot, which (of course) he played to perfection as a boy who ran for president and actually won. Because…that’s total science fiction, right? Having a spoiled brat CHILD in the White House! Hehehe, I mean…right?

But the one that really got to me personally was a cameo role in the movie “Doctor Sleep”, which was a Stephen King sequel to “The Shining”. That…ummm…that was almost too much for me. I cringed and almost had to turn away because my heart couldn’t take seeing him scream and cry like that. Even the main actress in the scene said she had to fight from tearing up while watching him do that. Like…it REALLY disturbed me. And I’m a horror FAN! But, noooo…not my Jacob. That almost broke me. 🙁

But that’s just another testament to his skill as an actor. And I applaud him for that.

So, that’s Jacob Tremblay in a nutshell! An undeniable talent and an A-List star in the making. It’s hard to imagine him still going to regular school and just taking classes with other kids all day long. But hey, I think that’s great. Let him be a kid and enjoy life for a while. And if he gets to meet celebrities, wow crowds with his acting ability, and walk the occasional red carpet, on top of it? Then have a blast, dude!

Besides, Jacob Tremblay is just naturally FUNNY! Hehehe, I LOVE him! So I only see great things for him in the future! Keep an eye on him, folks! He’s already a force to be reckoned with, and one of the best actors that this generation has to offer. So he’s only going to get better from here on out.
