There’s no way around it…the world, as a whole, is dealing with a very serious crisis right now. And I wanted to take a moment to wish you well, and to tell you to PLEASE be safe out there, ok? I mean it! This is not AIDS. This is not Hurricane Katrina, or 9/11, or Chernobyl. It’s not something that any of us can simply ‘watch on TV’ from a distance and think that it can’t affect us personally. It is a crisis for each and every single one of us. And not treating it seriously could be the biggest mistake you ever make.
So PLEASE…stay home. Stay safe. Wash up. Only go out if you NEED to go out. Wear gloves and a mask if you can. Don’t feel weird about it. I guarantee you, it’ll be the FASHION by next Christmas, and hot models will be walking the runways in Paris by the time it’s through! Hehehe! Take care of yourselves. Ok?
Everybody moans and groans about going to work, they need a vacation, they hate fighting traffic, they long lines at the local store…well, here’s your vacation! Enjoy it. Stay home. Watch TV. Binge Netflix shows that you’ve had lying around for the past few months. Play some video games. Get online and go spelunking on Youtube for new videos you haven’t seen before! Read back issues of Imagine Magazine, and all the Comicality stories you never tried out before! Hey, we’ve got an open Discord chatroom that’s open 24/7 and full of cool people from all over the globe, ages 15 to 50 and beyond! (Chatroom Link) Get stuff done around the house. All the things that you ever complained you never had time for…you have time for them now! Do THAT! K?
I know that these are trying times. It’s going to be hard for all of us. But if we don’t all pull together as a species…this thing is only going to take longer and longer to go away. I’m begging you…stay home! Not taking this thing seriously, you’re not only putting yourselves at risk…but you’re putting ME at risk! My family at risk! The people I care about most in life at risk! And I don’t appreciate it! Being stubborn and ‘doing whatever you want to do’, basically, makes you a biological terrorist at this point. So please…AGAIN…take care of yourselves! Do it for you…and do it for the rest of us. Ok?
I grew up in Chicago, and there is a LOT of violence there, but I love my city. My city is BEAUTIFUL! And, for the most part, that violence has never been a part of my life because I stayed away from it. I was lucky enough to not have it pressed down on my shoulders like others who were not so fortunate. No matter what one media outlet or another tells you…please think for yourselves, and…STAY HOME! If there was a tornado warning, an approaching hurricane, or a friggin’ ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE…you wouldn’t go outside to get your hair and nails done, would you? You wouldn’t think…”Meh, it’s not so serious.” Yes. This is serious. And I know it can be uncomfortable to not feel in control, and I realize that some of us are going a little stir crazy at the moment…but do yourself a favor and get out of the way of this virus. Ok? Don’t wait until you’re fighting for your life in a hospital bed somewhere before you begin to understand just how serious this situation can be.
Alright. That’s it. I’m done preaching now.
I wouldn’t be able to put out a new issue of Imagine without honestly expressing something that was weighing so heavy on my heart. I mean…’elephant in the room’, am I right? I’m not saying that you guys should panic…I’m just telling you to be careful. With everybody working together, we can get through this…and life will one day get back to normal. But it takes all of us. If there was ever a time for us to put our differences aside…it’s now.
Take care. Stay safe. And I’ll be here to celebrate with you all on the other side of this mess.
