To still be making music and still be amazing and relevant to different generations? That definitely deserves a standing ovation! And these two artists personify that idea, inside and out!
Al Green is probably one of the most iconic soul singers ever! And Queen Latifah is the essential female rapper of all time! From the songs she put out when I was just starting high school, to her verse on the ‘Living Legends’ song from just last MONTH! Strong, beautiful…the first lady of hip hop, even after coming out as being a proud lesbian a few years ago. She’s friggin’ amazing! Singing, rapping, and acting.
Now, I knew that Queen Latifah could hold a note or two…but when this song came out it was like, “Whoah! She can actually, like…SING!” And to put these two long lasting icons together on such a smooth, mellow, laid back song? Genius! Absolute genius!
