#1 – To this very day, there are EIGHT states in the US (Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Utah) that expressly forbid all sex educators from teaching students anything about LGBTQ+ sexuality as part of their sex-ed curriculum. Because…’reasons’, I guess?
#2 – Spider-Man was the very first hero in comic book history that was an actual teenager, and still got to be his own hero. Before that, teens could only be sidekicks to an adult mentor.
#3 – The month of June has the longest daylight hours of any other month of the year in the Northern Hemisphere of the planet…but the shortest daylight hours in the Southern Hemisphere.
#4 – Your average tree bark is made up of 99% dead cells with only 1% of the tree being alive and thriving at any given time.
#5 – Men and women dream differently when it comes to their nightmares. Men often have nightmares about large scale disasters, wars, and massive destruction…while women often have their worst nightmares about interpersonal relationships and one on one conflicts.
#6 – Thailand’s version of Father’s Day is actually celebrated in December, on the birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Everyone wears yellow as a tradition.
#7 – When putting together the Tim Burton “Batman” soundtrack together in 1989, producer, John Peters, wanted to grab two of the biggest possible names in music at that time. So he reached out to both Prince and Michael Jackson to participate! With Michael Jackson riding high off of his successes with ‘Thriller’ and the ‘Bad’ album, and Prince riding high off of his successes with ‘Purple Rain’ and the ‘Lovesexy’ album…you couldn’t possibly get any bigger than that! Unfortunately, the ‘Bad’ tour kept MJ from being a part of the project, but the original concept was to have them both playing characters on the soundtrack. All of Jackson’s songs were going to be sung from Bruce Wayne/Batman’s point of view, and all of Prince’s songs would be from the Joker’s point of view. (While simultaneously poking fun at MJ in his videos) Since the movie was all about rivalry, this would have been one of the biggest, most incredible, collaborations in history. Unfortunately, it’s one that the world will never see. (R.I.P. to both artists. And thanks for all the magic and genius that you shared with us in your time here)
When MJ couldn’t be a part of the soundtrack, Prince created the fictional character, ‘Gemini’, Who was half Joker, half Bruce Wayne, and completed the soundtrack on his own. Including the oddly dark, unreleased, track below, “Dance With The Devil”!
By the way…is it me…or did Prince totally ‘Jim Jones’ the whole damn party at the end of “Party Man”??? LOL! Dude! That’s dark!
#8 – Same-sex couples who want to adopt a child are usually older, more educated, and financially stable than other types of adoptive parents. Children of gay and lesbian parents are also much more self-aware, they communicate about their feelings more openly, and show more empathy for people who are different from themselves. Which seems like something that we could all use more of right now.
#9 – Nearly all studies have shown that over 90% of all child molestation cases around the globe are committed by heterosexual men…NOT gay or lesbian oriented peoples. Even when the victims are of the same sex as their abuser, it often has nothing to do with their sexual orientation at all.
#10 – Orgasms can alleviate cold symptoms! Just when you thought orgasms couldn’t get any more awesome. Research shows that having an orgasm can help to clear your sinuses. According to emergency room physician, Travis Stork of “The Doctors”, the brain tells the adrenal glands to secrete adrenaline during sexual fulfillment. This release of adrenaline causes the blood vessels to constrict, which in turn causes the sinuses to open. So the next time you’re congested, skip the Sudafed, grab some lotion, and just go for the big O.
