In this day and age of Youtube celebrity, one of the best things that a youngster can do is go insanely viral! Gone are the days of having to do countless performances at talent shows, only to find yourself having to beg the so-called higher ups to give you a shot. And that’s only considering IF you have a way to contact the higher ups at all.

All most kids have to do is have their baby brother bite their finger, fall down while dancing, or keep screaming, “Daaamn, Daniel”! Instant star! Hehehe! However, every now and then…you’ve got a kid that pops up out of nowhere with true talent, a big heart, a passion for what they do, and a genuine sound all their own. That’s when you know that you’ve struck gold!

Mason Ramsey has been rising up in the world of country music, becoming a household name not only for his fans, but to other country artists as well. But you may not know him by his actual name. Most people on the internet probably know him from a year or two ago…as ‘Walmart Yodeling Boy’. Singing “Lovesick Blues” by country superstar, Hank Williams. Right there in the middle of the store. And the world was introduced to another young teen with that special glow about him.

And the story, naturally, doesn’t stop there.

Only 14 years old (And still looks like he could pass for 12, easily), Mason Ramsey started showing his natural love and passion for music from the time he was able to walk, pretty much. His grandfather tells reporters, “He’d listen to music and he heard it and he’d go to singing it. And when he was a toddler, he was just singing.” And by the time he was three, he was already learning how to play guitar. I am SO jealous of kids these days, I swear.

Now, you might hear that deep Southern twang of his and think that he’s got to be from Texas or Tennessee somewhere…but he’s not. He’s actually from Illinois, which is about as Midwest as you can get. Mason got so much attention on Youtube that it wasn’t long before music producers and writers came sniffing around to find out if they had an exciting new prodigy to look forward to in the country music industry.

And it looks like Warner Bros. were the first ones to sweep him up to see what they could do with the bright young artist.

With a little coaching, some grooming, a touch of style, and a couple of original songs…Mason Ramsey was set up to be the next big thing, and he most definitely does not disappoint. He went straight to work, and was invited to perform at festivals and parks, his crowds growing more and more as the word got out about the ‘yodeling kid’ going pro. He then began performing on stage with some of the biggest stars in country shortly after that. The people that gave him so much influence were now sharing the spotlight with him on TV. How awesome is that.

He got to film a video in the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and now holds the record for being the youngest country artist to ever sing at Coachella. Not off to a bad start, ‘eh?

Then came his first big single, “Twang”, which is just a lot of fun! Check it out for yourselves!

(Wait…did he say, ‘And she likes my butt in these blue jeans?’ And why did the school principal hear the fire alarm and leave that CHILD in his office to burn to death??? I have so many questions! Hehehe!)

Soooo…did Mason find his ‘ride’ home? Hehehe! Because that girl’s got about four years and six inches on you, dude! Be careful with that one, cowboy! 😛

Mason loves playing video games and basketball just as much as his first love of music, and outside of performing for giant crowds on stage and on TV, he seems to be your average teen sweetheart. That’s always so refreshing to see, you know?

“I would not consider myself famous because…you know…I don’t want to get the big head. And I’m not trying to get the big head.” Mason grins. “I don’t want to get the big head because then my hat won’t fit.” And what decent country singer would have a tight hat on? That would just be silly! Hehehe!

Speaking of which…you also can’t be a country star at all without going through the appropriate rite of passage! Yep, that’s right? Appearing on one of the many…many…MANY…remixes of Lil Nas X’s song, “Old Town Road”! Which he did, quite nicely! So kudos on that one, Mason! Hehehe!

“Well, I got a call about 10 O’clock at night, ummmm…it was…I believe it was my manager, and he said that he had some really great news and he said Lil Nas X invited me to be on his song! So I woke up, I got my clothes on, I ran out to the door as fast as I could, into the car, drove all the way there, and then we wrote a verse, and then…we recorded it. And that’s pretty much what happened.”

So Mason Ramsey has checked all of the boxes as far as getting his foot in the door, conquered Youtube with his viral status, has gotten love and respect from his peers in the industry, has proven to have a great talent and die hard work ethic, and he made a remix to “Old Town Road”. And he still stayed cute and humble while he did it. You can’t argue with success! I’m sure that we’ll be hearing more from him in the years to come!

Because he just keeps right on truckin’!

Oh, and in order to help out the environment, Mason Ramsey teamed up with Burger King in an effort to reduce the amount of Methane gasses into the atmosphere to slow down the effects of climate change! And how did it turn out? Well, I can honestly say that it is the absolute BEST song about cow farts that I’ve ever heard before! Hahaha! What? It’s TRUE! I dare any one of you to name a better one?

I’ll wait…

“Yep! That’s what I thought!

Keep going strong, Mason! You’ve got a sound that’s all your own, and one day…you might just ride off into the sunset knowing that you’ve got a special section in the Grand Ole Opry just for you! Stay sweet!
