I can honestly say that “The Adam Project” is probably one of my favorite movies of the year so far! Hehehe! I mean, it took me back to how I felt back when I was watching “Goonies”, “E.T”, “Stand By Me”, “Flight Of The Navigator”…it was amazing! Adventure and laughs and action…but also a real sense of heart at the very center of it all that gave me the warm fuzzies on top of it all! GREAT movie! Definitely, check it out when you get a chance!
And this brought us the grace and comedic genius of a young actor by the name of Walker Scobell! Who definitely cracked me up while watching this flick! I doubt that they could have picked a better child actor to play a younger version of Ryan Reynolds! Just his sharp comebacks and flawless banter makes him such an adorable asshole that you can’t help but to love him in this role. And anybody who can share a screen with Ryan Reynolds and not get overshadowed is a talent in itself, to be honest.
I wonder if Walker is like that in his everyday life. Because, if he is, he’d be he coolest kid ever to be around. There’s a certain sass to him that really cuts like a knife, but it never once came off as malicious or annoying. Which is incredible, because with most child actors, he would have seemed insufferable. But I doubt that Walker could come off as an annoying brat if he tried! Hehehe, he’s too cute for that! Not just physically, but personality wise. I’d really love to see him in more projects in the near future.
Until then, though…this movie needs to be really high up on everybody’s ‘need to watch’ list! It’s SO much fun! And I think you’ll love it for everything that it is! I certainly did!
Even actor, Ryan Reynolds, praised Walker for his ability to match wits with him on screen. Something that he found quite impressive for a boy his age. Saying, “Oh, Walker’s amazing. I fire off 10 alts to any given joke or moment. So there’s all sorts of things that come about out of nowhere and work in surprising ways, not the least of which is you could throw that kid anything and he’ll deliver it perfectly. It was just unbelievable. He felt like a much more extroverted version of me as a kid. I was much more shy than he was, but he really could turn that on. But actually, Walker in real life is quite shy.” How awesome is that? Hehehe, especially with Walker being such a HUGE fan of superhero movies, and can quote Ryan’s ‘Deadpool’ monologues from memory alone! :O
That’s CRAZY! But, like I said…Walker cracks me up! Hahaha! With his delivery and his expressions and just…he’s a natural, you know?
Coming from Erie, Pennsylvania (And moving around from Colorado to California with his military family) Scobell began showing off his acting talents at a young age, and began going to acting camps while he was still in elementary school. It was there that he began to hone his craft and prepare himself for this movie, which is his first big role to date. But I’m sure that there will be many more coming his way in the near future. This is one beauty that has the kind of charisma and talent to take him just as far as his co-stars someday. I’m almost sure of it.
When talking about Ryan Reynolds’ role in this movie, Walker says, “He’s being really funny, but also really sad at the same time. You’re laughing while you’re crying. I really like that.” Something that I’m sure he’ll add to his repertoire of acting tools in the future. Which is cool.
“He told me to keep my head screwed on tight.” Walker says about his time on set with one of his all time idols. “He taught me a bunch of things, like how to say things differently. He taught me how to scream.” Adding, “I was really nervous to scream. I was self-conscious about it. So he told me, ‘Imagine you’re in the middle of a football field, and your dad is on the other side, and you’re trying to get his attention.’ That helped.” Again….VERY cool that he was able to talk about his craft with someone that he admired on set.
Hehehe, is it just me…or is it funny that he’s such a huge super hero movie fan, and all four of his co-stars have all played Marvel characters in movies before? (Deadpool, The Hulk, Elektra, and Gamora from Guardians Of The Galaxy) That must have been a dream come true for him! 😛
By the way, when I was starting high school…I had the BIGGEST crush on Ryan Reynolds! LOL! Seriously! He was on a teenage soap opera called “Fifteen” on Nickelodean, and he was about the age that Walker is now! Omigod, I loved him sooooo much! LOL!
